Technical information about this website's accessibility

Blackpool Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to:

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

  • We use YouTube to embed videos in our site. The play button may not always be visible to assistive technology. Where multiple videos are used on a page some screen readers may not be able to identify the play to the correct video. Where possible we will always title the video with a heading tag to help ease the problem.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of our site and carry out manual and automated tests throughout the year on a random selection of content. We are also working with third-party suppliers to encourage them to bring systems out of our control to standard.
